Laminate is inexpensive, usually costing a lot less than most other materials. Keep in mind that, unlike pricier materials, laminate can also be replaced at a fraction of the cost.
THE TWO TYPES:
Postform laminate counter tops are made by applying laminate to a substrate with specifically formed edges and back splash.
The laminate is rolled over the front to create a single, unbroken face, losing the dark seam by adding a decorative edge.
Self edge laminate counter tops are very popular for those who choose to have few or no surface seams.
This style of top is much more amenable to custom work, since customers have the choices of coved side splashes and integral sinks, among other things.
